My
emergency leave was granted by the Army after the American Red Cross
contacted the Army and said my father would like to see me before he died
from cancer. I was given a 30-day emergency leave to fly home and be with
him in March 1955 when I took this picture. I went back overseas in April.
He died in June 1955.
